Discovery Kits
Bring history into your classroom!
Filled with replica artifacts, maps, images, clothing, games, videos, music, background information, suggested activities, and other resources, the Education Discovery Kits allow you to bring California history alive — at your site and on your time. We designed the kits with 3rd and 4th grade History/Social Studies content standards in mind, but they are ideal for all elementary-age children. Other standards include Language Arts, Visual Arts, Science, and Environmental Education.

Who has come to California and the Hayward area over time and why?
The rental fee for an Education Discovery Kit is $20 per week. There is a $5.00 per day fee for late pick-up and drop-off. Each kit contains plenty of activities for an entire week. We encourage multiple teachers at a site to rent a kit together. Kits are picked up by the teacher at the Downtown Museum on Saturday and dropped off the following Friday (museum hours are 11 am — 4 pm Tuesday through Saturday). Advance payment is appreciated.
