History Gallery

Explore our new intimate second floor gallery highlighting stories of our area. View more than 100 artifacts from the HAHS collections.

The History Gallery on the Second Floor of the HAHS building is a space that highlights the history of the Hayward Area, meaning the City of Hayward and the surrounding unincorporated communities of Castro Valley, San Lorenzo, Ashland, Cherryland, and Fairview. It also includes historic and/or lost communities like Mt. Eden (which has been fully absorbed by the City of Hayward) and Russell City. This exhibit examines how people live, play, and work in the area and features artifacts and photographs from days gone by.
